Celebrating the arrival of our tribe’s new member, this vocal performance prompts questions of fluid identity and female voice in sound/music performance. Underlying the work are personal stories of displacement, be-longing and geographical movement.
Music, voices and everyday sound-recordings are being encapsulated in this composition capturing the potential of the format of a dj-storytelling and its material to effect and affect. Based on ecofeminist perspectives, the personal not only is political and becomes collective on the level of human society, but expands beyond the human realm and opens links to posthuman approaches.
From therapeutic dance and trance to public speech, from sorrow to happiness…
